Respect yourself
I know it's been awhile my friends, but life throws crazy curve balls at us sometimes... And one of those horrible things got the best of me. But, I'm back and I will hopefully get your attention again. What I wanted to write about today is about having respect for yourself. We are all taught at a very young age to respect others and treat others how we would like to be treated but a lot of kids these days, I think, are not taught to respect themselves first. In order to respect others, you have to have respect for yourself, including your body and your brain. A lot of people, especially girls, get the impression that they have to be someone they're not to get the attention of others. They think if they do certain things that they will find love or a place in life. That my friends, is not the case. I am not saying I have not had times where I just wanted someone to be there or I just needed affection and I did something stupid because of that, but what I am saying is that anyone who isn't willing to wait for you, respect you and be honest with you is a waste of your time. We all need to remember that everyone is different and everyone is going to have something that you don't, but we need to learn to appreciate all the things that we have been blessed with. I may not have the perfect body, complexion, brain power or personality but I am grateful for having the ability to see, hear, smell, touch and taste. I am grateful for my wonderful family. I am grateful for my real friends and I am grateful to wake up everyday. You have to love yourself before anyone else will love you. If you don't have respect for your own body, then who will? I just think that we should remember it's not always our words that make people see who we really are, it's our actions. Be safe. Treat yourself with the respect you deserve. Don't destroy yourself for somebody else. Be strong. Have faith. I'm back to the blogging world people so you better watch out... I'm on a roll :)
Great post Shannon!! Welcome back!!!
