I'll be back...
90's nostalgia. I keep longing for old Nickelodeon shows, movies like "Empire Records", and old albums that made me in to the weird, quirky, sarcastic asshole that I am today. I always wonder what the world would be like today if the 90's never happened and we just skipped to the Millennium. We would be the shittiest generation since... whenever the last shitty generation was born (which was in 2000). There would have not been any cool cartoon MTV shows like "Beavis and Butthead" and "Daria", not to mention be any actual music videos on MTV. No "TRL" with Carson and his 3 black fingernails. No Justin and Britney. What would we sing at camp if there was no "Salute your Shorts"? What would we dream of at night if there wasn't game shows like "Double Dare" and "Guts"? I don't think I could have lived if I never heard my first 311 song. I would have never known the love between Romeo and Juliet without watching Leo and Claire act it out over and over on the big screen (I didn't read Shakespeare back then). I wouldn't have been the coolest 3rd grader in school without my Billabong sweatshirt, butterfly clips, tamagotchi and my overalls with one strap detached. No Spice Girls, Pearl Jam, Whitney Houston's "The Bodyguard" or "The Preacher's Wife", Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Christina Aguilera or the ever famous thriller movie "SCREAM"? What if TLC never sang their famous song "Waterfalls"? I could go on for days. It just so happens, the nineties did indeed happen and brought us some of the greatest music, movies, television and fashion. We may not be able to remake any of those awesome things but at least we can relive them with our memories. I am so glad the 90's happened... and also that the 70's happened but I am pissed that I couldn't actually live through that one. I am however super lucky to have lived in the greatest decade yet and I probably could wait for the next ones... but I guess I am excited for the future. Lastly, whoever got as excited as me when I saw that JNCO was making a comeback, well, then, I hope you enjoyed this blast from the past blog post as much as I enjoyed writing it. I haven't written in a long time and I missed it, so I decided to bring my writing back as well as the 90's. Stay tuned and "I'LL BE RIGHT BACK..."
You are a 60's child at heart. Good job Shanni!
